What are the Benefits?

1.      It can boost your life expectancy.

There have been various studies have been conducted on runners, and most of them showed that people who run or jog on a daily basis exhibited a great amount of life-extending benefits.

One similar study was conducted by Iowa State University, which conducted a study that consisted of about 55,000 people.

In this study, the researchers and the professionals concluded that after running about a mere three times for a session that consisted of just seventeen minutes long, these people showed signs of being less prone to heart diseases and heart attacks by 55%.

In addition to that, there have also been other studies conducted that suggest that running for only about three to six miles a week can lead to many life-extending benefits being developed within your body, such as reducing the risk of developing diabetes and heart diseases.

Furthermore, running at least three miles a week has also shown signs of an effective way to control your cholesterol levels and prevent high cholesterol.

2.      Reduce the risk of cancer

Speaking of making you less prone to major diseases that can cause life-altering damage, researchers and medical professionals have also suggested that integrating running or jogging into your daily routine has also shown signs of reducing the risk of developing cancer in the near future as well.

Although it is not the cure for cancer, there has been a lot of evidence that relates running to being a great way to greatly reduce the possibility of getting cancer in the first place.

There have been many reviews that state that the act of exercising and running on a regular basis has been shown to reduce the risk of developing colon cancer by around 40-70% and breast cancer by 30 to 40% as well.

3.      Keeps your mind sharp

Not only your physical condition, but running makes your mind healthy as well. There are many researchers who have found that running on a regular basis is directly connected to your brain activity.

There has been evidence in the Psychonomic Bulletin states that regular exercise and running develop better cognitive functions that provide them with the ability to mentally process things at a much faster rate. This results in a sharp mind that is capable of performing much more complex cognitive processes.

Furthermore, regular running and exercise have also resulted in people improving their blood flow, specifically in the brain.

So much so that some researchers have stated that allotting some time in your schedule to running on a regular basis is said to reduce the risk of being afflicted by the health condition Alzheimer’s as well.

4.      Acts as a stress reliever

Ever feel like there is an excessive amount of stress that is on your mind, and you wish to remove it from your system in order to progress with your day? In that case, running is the best exercise which could help you with that.

A study was conducted by a reputable sports brand, where the researchers conducted research by monitoring the brain waves of the runners that were participating in the test.

They measured the brain waves of the participants before and after they went on a twenty-minute run. After comparing how the brain waves formed, they came to the conclusion that the runners exhibited an approximately 58% reduction in their levels of cognitive stress after going on a run.

5.      Can uplift your mood

Running is the perfect exercise that can potentially boost your mood and result in you being much happier, providing you with a great start to your day.

If you think that this is a baseless accusation, then you should definitely check out the study conducted by Glasgow Caledonian University, which states otherwise.

This study that was conducted by this university involved a quiz that was conducted amongst a total of 8,000 participants who used to be regular park runners.

After conducting this vast survey, the results showed that around 89% of those runners stated that they felt in a better mood, being happier after they had finished their run around the park.

Furthermore, they also exclaimed that going on a run on a regular basis resulted in an improvement in their mental health as well.

Wrap-up

As you can witness from the aforementioned benefits that have been stated previously, running is great not only for your physical health but it helps combat many other mental disorders and helps improve your mood as well.

To sum it up, running is something that should definitely be a part of your daily routine. Running for even an hour or half an hour can result in many benefits, such as the reduced risk of developing heart disease and going so far as to reduce the risk of cancer as well.

Due to this, make sure to allot a fraction of your time, get some running shoes, and go on a run around your home, or the park, so that you can have a great start to your day.
